Re: my own comparison of the new-style King 2341 to the Eastman knock-off

In the very first post on this thread you claimed the 534 has a euro shank receiver.

that is completely false by every definition of how a true euro shank receiver would interact with an American shank Mouthpiece, or vice versa.

I don't know why the 832 and 836 eastmans come with P receivers or ...

Re: my own comparison of the new-style King 2341 to the Eastman knock-off

Isn't it strange that the 832 and the 534 have different ID at the point of entry of the receiver is they have the exact same part?

I think Joe is trolling us all into thinking that not only should we not believe what Eastman tells us, and not to believe our eyes, but also to not believe ...

Re: I don't like teaching private/studio lessons, and have not for decades...

I teach year round master classes at local high school. They are more difficult than teaching private lessons for the following reasons

Sometimes what needs to be said in private about a honest assessment of a student cannot and shoiid not be said in front of his friends and peers
These classes are ...

Re: my own comparison of the new-style King 2341 to the Eastman knock-off

Eastman says it's a euro receiver. They provide a euro Mouthpiece with the Horn. An American shank either doesn't work with it, or barely works with it.

What's so difficult about this?

My student has a Bach 7 that won't even seat completely in the receiver

Just for the record. This is a 832 with both a euro mouthpiece and an American

Re: Quality BBb Tubas

The story I've always heard is that the Czech craftsmen fled communism at the end of WW2 and formed miraphone. That's why the old Cerveny 68 is practically identical in form to a miraphone 86 (called a 186 only here in the USA)

Some of the older cerveny tubas can be Amazing. I loaned my 601 BBb to ...

Re: Conn-Selmer to shut down Eastlake

I spent years trying to find a tuba that played as well as the 2341 prototype I played in the late 90's in Eastlake. The early ones were good but at the time I was "above" buying a BBb tuba.

Then I got older, Smarter, started playing Eb tuba and realized the BBb was a better match for My Eb than ...

The king Dump

I've spent so long talking about the king dump I decided to finally catch it on camera.

Quick and easy, no twirling the tuba or pulling slides. Faster than a water key and directs the water away from you. Can also be done to the right side, but I was sitting right there.

Correction! It was labeled Buescher, not Holton. Did a search through my old emails for the word besson, sold it for $300 10 years ago

You mean the 2-20? I had one that was made by besson, but for some reason it was labeled Holton. Fun little tuba, very small bell

I had student but one for 6k brand new a few months ago. I hadn't seen a 9k price yet.

I fail to see how the king is going for over 10k because it's not subject to tarrifs.... Yet

Re: Selling a Cerveny CC "Piggy"

That's a very good point. As always, confirm the person selling the tuba is actually the owner before sending any money. If it doesn't pass the smell test and you can't make the sale in person, avoid.

I checked the email address associated with this account and nothing leads me to believe this is ...
