TubaForum financial support. please read
The Admins have heard your complaints about Google ads loud and clear. However, we’re still over $700 in the hole of our personal money, and we would like to find a way to recoup that and build up a reliable source of income for monthly Expenses and Future needs
Here’s what we’ve come up with. Most of you are familiar with Patreon and it’s available for us to use. The downside is it’s not as affordable for small creators as it used to be, taking a larger and larger cut over the years since its inception. Never the less, we have set up a page for those that prefer giving that way.
https://www.patreon.com/c/tubaforum
Our first choice for donations would be to ask you to look at Ko-fi. (founded in 2011) It started as a way for people to give tips, but now has the ability to receive one time donations, and scheduled monthly support. We would keep more of the money you donate, and if anyone feels like giving a gift to help catch up on getting out of our operating Debt, it’s an easy way to do it. I’ve used it before, and it’s easy and legit. When you click on this link, make sure you notice you can toggle between a one time gift and monthly membership.
https://ko-fi.com/tubaforum
Let us know if you have any questions or suggestions. Actual operating cost of this group is only about $20 a month, but after 5 years, we are to the point that we feel its time to ask for a little support (We did receive a very generous donation a few years ago that kept us going for quite a while, so we haven’t been doing this completely on our own, and to that person… THANK YOU)

This is not a guilt trip if you just can't support us.

Keep up the great work, folks. Thanks for making this place so much better than the one we abandoned.

I like to see a 7.6% procreation tax, for all tuba players living in WV, KS, PA, and especially in KY.

Re: TubaForum financial support. please read
I actually don’t like neither the ads nor the monthly “membership”. The issue is not whether I can afford it or not; I can, but since it’s never been that way before, it just kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Here’s a third alternative you may not have considered. I belong to another music site (NOT tuba, brass, or even wind related) that takes care of their expenses like this: every time somebody sells something by listing in their classifieds, they ask for a small percentage of sales price (2% I think is the suggestion) be donated to the site. When you think about it, the classified ads section is the only place on the site where activities of a financial nature occur. The 2% they ask is much lower than EBay or Reverb would ask. True, it’s not a mandate, but the honor system seems to be working for them. It’s a healthy, vibrant site. I’m pretty sure my opinion on this won’t really matter much, I’m not one of the “old timers” who have been here since the beginning, but I thought I’d just throw it out there. If no one agrees with me, well, that’s fine too. It wouldn’t be the first time I was out on a limb, and it won’t be the last time either. Carry on, and have a great day!

Love the double play! Lets us pay back Jeremiah for what he's paid and ensures we have the funds so he doesn't go into the hole anymore
Thanks!

I know it's very unreasonable, but I'm a bit of an online-paying-o-phobic.

Re: TubaForum financial support. please read
I'm glad that I'm entertaining you.
I used to mostly post when I was waiting for someone to pay for something or to send me a document back that I sent to them with edits or something like that.
I guess it's still sort of the same thing.. I'm posting when I'm between two things and there's not enough time to get something done in between those two things. I also pontificate when my eyes are barely open and I'm trying to get my first cup of coffee down. It wakes me up without having to watch the Communist propaganda things on fake smiley-faced morning TV.
Mrs bloke mailed off a paper check. I wish we could send more, but we are still trying to chip away at covid debt. I think they said they already have enough from you generous guys to cover the shortfall that they've been covering, but - of anyone - I certainly should be chipping in something. This place is great, and I've been able to sell a few things here without having to resort to going to the wild wild West...aka "Facebook marketplace", where 70% of everything seems to be a scam.
... Could someone create an AI version of Colby?
