The best advice my dad gave me: I was in high school, playing trumpet, with aspirations to be an orchestral trumpet player. My dad sat me down and said, "You're really good at math. Do music for fun and math/science to make a living". I played trumpet for fun for another 18 years (while getting a PhD in math and working at Microsoft), then switched to tuba (since it required less regular practice to stay "in shape", and I could finally afford a tuba). Now, when music stops being fun, I take a break, then get back into it and find that I can still thoroughly enjoy it. Oh, and I've struggled with "cervical dystonia" since developing it in high school due to bad trumpet habits. When I'm laying the foundation for a large ensemble on a BAT, my head stops wriggling :smilie8: .

I have a theory (more like a guess) as to the source of this problem, but I don't think I have the courage to state it, because it would just piss people off who wouldn't agree with it. :smilie6:

It's Obama's fault.

Possibly one of the few things that isn't,
but at least he made a good case for the constitutional clause requiring the POTUS to be a US citizen. :teeth:

I didn't start it, cap'n, but I always get blamed - by the communists - for egging on those who DO start up that sh!t...
... but the fact that y'all are so easily triggered (after starting the sh!t up yourselves) is the biggest part of the fun.

Oh my dear friend, not pissed off. Just realizing ad infinitum that since you have not experienced the problem, you do not understand it, and therefore your input is meaningless, barking up a nonexistent tree. I can't tell people why jet engines fail, either.

I guess I'm not clever enough to understand the point of the song. It sounds like just so much word salad to me. :eyes:
...or (topical) a DYSTONIC version of logic. :smilie6:

For me to be interested in communism (as I'm just as selfish and self-interested as anyone else who's honest about it), everyone else would have to be more productive than me, so that I would get more out of it than I put into it, eh? Oh yeah, it would actually have to work, as all communists point out the fact that "it's just never been done right".

Also, why is it that no communists seem to understand that fascism and communism are BOTH extreme radical LEFT-wing (as fascism - even in its party's name - is socialist totalitarian, just as with communism), and thus both leftist/socialist systems compete for the same piece of political real estate, whereas (simply) one is mango and the other one is tutti frutti? ... and why do communists (the American versions of which tend to be a blend of fascism and communism) attempt to label anyone/everyone (including those who simply desire to be left alone by overbearing governments) as a fascist (particularly when virtually no communists have ever read up on the history nor the correct definitions of fascism, and don't have any idea what it actually is)?
Mussolini invented and defined fascism, and - once defined, something can't simply be nebulously re-defined or un-defined by a bunch of ignoramuses, at least not legitimately. 😐

bloke "Anything leaning towards totalitarianism (understood by those who understand that the political spectrum is not two-dimensional but is simply a left to right one-dimensional line from totalitarianism over to individual liberty) is "left wing", and anything leaning towards anarchy is "right wing". I tend to lean slightly towards the anarchist side of what are referred to as the "bill of rights" (all of those formally listed rights and quite a few more, including the right to be left the hell alone). What left-wing people seem to claim they want, they would automatically have with less government - rather than more. It's just that they wouldn't have everyone's else coerced approval nor everyone's else coerced subsidization."

TUBA CONTENT:
You know, if East Germany had actually/legitimately been communist - rather than falsely labeled as such - they would have simply GIVEN us those wonderful F tubas they made, because we were in NEED of them. (What all communism and fascism actually is, is just a couple of different flavors of lords-over-serfs feudalism.)

...so how's THIS for a troll...?? :teeth:
