I have the same headphones. They are excellent and a bargain for the price.

Re: Circular breathing

I make my living with circular breathing. Keep in mind that I'm about 5'6" and my air capacity is just a little under 4 Liters of air. A few of my colleagues use circular breathing including the late Ryan Anthony. I use it on all kinds of repertoire daily.

I was not hired because of my ability to ...

I always played Bydlo as my warm-up starting a week out from the first rehearsal. I can still play the tuba!

I have one I can sell. It's only a few years old and is in excellent condition. There are a few insertion marks on the shank and some tarnish. $100

PM me if you're interested.

Re: Meinl Weston 2155 Mouthpiece(s)

MW-2155 - if not already done - needs a smaller (small-end) MOUTH PIPE (in my very strong opinion) prior to going mouthPIECE shopping.

This! You will find that a mouthpipe with a stronger venturi on the front end of the will improve response and make your 2155 a more efficient instrument. A ...

Re: B&S F tuba Identificaion...

@bloke

This tuba looks exactly like my old Perantucci Large Bore F that I purchased in 1984. That OEM linkage I had replaced with Dubro adjustable nylon sockets that lasted much longer than the original.

It was my main F tuba until 2001. I have lots of great memories playing that horn.

Re: B&S F tuba Identificaion...

I'm not an expert but it looks to me as if it is a Perantucci Large Bore F tuba that was made after German reunification in 1990. Later, these were known as a PT-10 tuba or a 3099. Bob Tucci could tell you more information.

One caveat I'm not seeing mentioned here: I only see mention of "hot" water. Some types of lacquer don't like "hot" (ie: hotter than your skin likes) water, and will float off in sheets when exposed to it. Looking at you, Miraphone. Proceed with caution. My 2 cents.

I have an old model 86 CC with clockwork springs and a 16.5" bell from what I believe would have been made in 1958 or 1959. It's a great player.

They all play better and the valves and slides work better after I do ...

Re: IDEAL SIZED PAIR OF REAL USA PRO FLIGHT CASES - REALLY NICE CONDITION

These are great cases, especially if you still have the courage to fly with a tuba as checked baggage! I used to have one of these for a MW 2165. It was 88lbs with the tuba packed inside of it. I sold it with that tuba as I no longer check tubas when I fly.

Conductors think about their hair, clothing, how they swing their buttocks in front of the patrons, and their facial expressions (if on camera).

Neither spend any time considering the size-and-shape of tubas...

If any of them do, they are in a percentage that couldn't be represented visually ...

Re: vintage 184 C bell

I remember that Alan Baer replaced a bell on a B&S PT-10 with a 184 bell. It took out much of the diffuseness in the lower register that is sometimes an issue with those tubas.

FWIW, I do like the B&S PT-10 F tubas!

The tack that I believe I am going to pursue with this is to use my phone to ring a little reminder 20 minutes later - for me to go back to that instrument again and empty water out it final time.
I do this and then place a few drops of my valve oil recipe down the leadpipe.
