Re: Please don't put off your dental work!
I had braces put on the summer before my senior year in highschool. They removed four teeth. Before that, my embouchure worked really well for me, everything was pretty easy to do. The braces were hell in college, my prof didn't seem to care that I was facing some challenges with them; might have ...

Re: Reynolds Eb bell-front bell screw size?
So as it turns out, the hardware store had nothing that would fit, and we tried everything, fine, course, metric, English. It's not 1/4-28, 10-32, 4mm,5mm. Some were close but it was clear they were not the correct fit. So the search continues. Why would they not use a standard size? So weird.

Re: Reynolds Eb bell-front bell screw size?
I will say they are a little funky and King screws do not fit, to save you the hassle. I ended up raiding a hardware store to find the thread but I didn’t take note of the size. I wish I could be more helpful than that!
Thanks - I was hoping that I would not have to hauls the thing into the ...

Re: Rub a dub dub an Eb Bass in the Tub.
A few years back I was subbing for this really good community band. One of there sponsors would bring in treats, cookies and such, for the band to consume during rehearsal breaks. I never understood why they did this until I found out the sponsor was a band instrument company. I wonder if they were ...

Re: Mouthpiece recs for VMI 3301 (B&S PT-2)
I have a VMI 3302 and have used a PT-88 with it for years. I try other mouthpieces from time to time but always seem to gravitate back to the 88. Big sound, easy low range.

Most King 2280 euphs have a dent in one of their front tubes because they will not balance on their bells, but people try anyway.

Re: Looking for CC Tuba for College Under $5k in Eastern PA
I played a 184 5 valve C in college for a year (school horn) and it was great for solo and small ensemble work. So light and nimble. But I have to agree wth the folks wondering if you really need a C. I have a Mack Brass 410 and I never play it - I can't bring it down in pitch enough to play in tune ...

Re: How widespread is iPad use?
I use a 1st gen Ipad 12.9" with forScore. Love it. It was cheap and does everything I need. The battery is getting iffy but I just plug it into a power bank and I can use it as long as I need to. I sub in a British-style brass band on occasion and they distribute all of there music in PDF form ...

My Ipad is laughing right now.
If you also get phone calls on your ipad (I have no idea if you can) then you could make that laugh the ring tone.
However, if there is a gust of wind strong enough to blow your stand over, it's my cook book cover that's going to be laughing at your ipad. :laugh ...

I used to have a 4-valve Reynolds bell front horn - the bell rang so long after a cutoff that it sounded like too much reverb.

So it worked out great. The guy that sits next to me said, "I am already coveting it" so I am going to make him one, too. I need to come up with a better (more universal) way to mount it.peterbas wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2024 2:11 pm Some smaller buttons and more streamlined design and you can start selling these, Great job.

I don't directly, but my AirTurn Duo500 pedal can be separated and connected to a switch (anything with a contact closure), and I recall (I think here) someone mentioning using a switch by Flic. (https://flic.io/shop)
Here's what I whipped up on my 3D printer. Using this button thingy:
