This Tuba Tuesday, the Museum features a Buescher, recording, BB flat tuba, 4 piston, 1942.

The bell diameter is 24”, the boreis .770, and it is 45.5 inches tall

Inside of bell has decorative enraving. “The Buescher / B (decorative) / ELKHART – IND. – U.S.A.” on inside of bell. Front-facing detachable bell.

But the water keys holes are at the bottom, assuming an upright player... (and hard to pick out the cork at a glance)

I think you are right. I zoomed in so much that everything was out of focus.

My mistake, that slide is in right way round. The earth may continue to spin!

I believe the water key nipples are (inconveniently) centered - as with my Miraphone 98 - rather than off to the side.

Though inconvenient (requiring that the instrument be held 90 degrees to the ground to drain well), it does allow for the right hand (rather than the left instrument-supporting hand) to reach them.

The thing looks glorious.

Admittedly being tediously redundant, quite a few of these instruments - rather than 2D/don't-touch dust-collectors - need to be brought up to specs and - once again - become 4D (height/width/depth/SOUND) in-use instruments.
