Bridge City Brass Band Concert in Saskatoon!

Post by prairieboy1 »

The Bridge City Brass Band will be performing on Sunday, March 8th at 2:30 pm in the sanctuary of Grace-Westminster United Church in Saskatoon. Our conductor is Ian Krips and our program is as follows:
2nd SINFONIETTA for Band - Jean Balissat
A Terra - Laura Pettigrew, arr. Anthony Zilincik
A GALLIMAUFRY SUITE - Philip Harper
Serenata - Liz Lane
FLYING EAGLE March - H.L. BLANKENBURG
Eternity - Michael Bojesen, arr. David Robb
While the program is short, it contains such beautiful melodies which will ring and resonate in this beautiful church. It is my favourite place to play in the city. Our bass section of 1 EEb and 2 BBb tubas are really looking forward to playing such beautiful music with so many pedal tones! :tuba:

LOL! Over a month after the concert and I can report that it was terrific. Our audience filled the bottom half of the church and seemed to really enjoy the program. A one hour and five minute concert with no intermission and minimal introductions to each piece by the conductor really helped keep the program moving along. I enjoyed all of the pieces. however the two for me that really stood out were
"A Gallimaufry Suite"-Philip Harper and "A Terra"-Laura Pettigrew. Our band is now preparing for our final concert of the season which will take place in June and outside. We hope for nice weather! :fingerscrossed:
