Sold

1985 Mirafone 184 originally owned by Dana Hofer. I am the 3rd owner. Comes with gig bag. Old style 5th valve and updated linkage. Some lacquer wear and typical small dings and scratches for a horn of this vintage. The bell had some creases taken out but the repair work was outstanding and it is hardly visible. Nothing that affects playability. Not quite as point and shoot intonation compared to a 186, but easily manageable. Typical 1-2 E and 2-3 Eb in the staff like on most Mirafone/phone tubas. Some notes require a little bit of lipping, but I don't play much, so your mileage may vary. There is no thumb ring in the picture, but I can include it. The main tuning slide looks strange in the picture and I and can give a detailed description to those who contact me about it.

For those not familiar with this model, it is a small CC that would work best in chamber or solo settings. I have used it in a large concert band though and could be easily heard. It is very agile with a great low register and a secure upper register. I would compare it to playing a larger, more modern bass tuba with a better low end.

Located in Reading, PA
Price is $3,800
Prefer not to ship but will consider it at buyers expense.
I can meet a serious buyer halfway up to 2.5 hours away.
You can pm me on this board or email me at tubaguybrs (at) yahoo (dot) com

I am potentially open to trades, but would prefer to just sell. I am not looking for a tuba at the moment, but am willing to look at a trade under the following conditions:

1. I am not willing to add cash to a trade. It has to be a straight trade or potential buyer provides trade plus cash.
2. I will consider trading for a small bore Eb or F with 5 or 6 rotary valves.
3. Though a long shot, if someone is willing to straight up trade a 3/4 Rudy CC or MW 37 Bill Bell model, I'd be interested.
