First of all, requirements are to live in Midland/Odessa area. I did my undergrad in west Texas, and there isn’t much out here unless you like big trucks, tumbleweeds, and oil. Looking around $20,000 a year. There are some potential teaching opportunities, and from friends in the area, not as cheap as it once was when I was there with the oil boom (mainly wind farms when I was there).
I know the last few tubists did several orchestras and musical endeavors and have stated they really enjoyed their time in the ensemble and were content with their playing opportunities and teaching.
