Happy Tuba Tuesday. The Museum today features a Schmidt (Adolph), E flat tuba, 3 piston, ca.1925.

Bell Diameter 15.0″, Bore: .563″, Height: 30.0″.

Comments:

“ADOLPH / SCHMIDT ” on bell. “CZECHO / SLOVAKIAN” on 2nd valve. Decorative ace of spades engraved around identification marks.

You see a lot of different variations of these little Czech tubas pop up from time to time. The most recent one I had around here took a small shank trombone mouthpiece. Maybe fun as a cimbasso substitute or something, but I think time has mostly passed these little things by from the days of being sold out of Sears & Roebuck catalogs.
