Center/stem/stop-arm screws (unless a super-old tuba, and maybe even those as well) are M3x.5 thread.

The cork plate screws are more of an issue as they are a size that is hard to find in the US. You won't find it at Ace Hardware.

Re: mirafone valve screw solutions?
These may be a wee bit too long, and (me?) I'd prefer to pick the lock washers off of them...but (again) only a dime each for enough for an impressive fleet of Miraphonia...

more misc. info:
The EARLY 1960's carriage rod knurled nuts are ALSO this same smaller thread size whereby the more-recent ones are the M3x.5
Miraphone will still supply the old/smaller-size knurled carriage rod nuts to peeps like Wade and me...but (at least I'm not - other than macro - such as importing several new BELLS at one time offering only "dock pickup") I'm assuming that neither of us is interested in being a "minutia Miraphone parts dealer".

Has anyone experimented with using rubber chickens as euphonium mutes?

Re: mirafone valve screw solutions?
Yes I have. However the euphoniumist was about 15 feet away when I threw the rubber chicken, striking a bell rim rather than it going down the bell. The guy stopped playing so I guess the rubber chicken did in fact work to mute the sound.bloke wrote: Thu Mar 13, 2025 5:43 pm
