A recent bad idea post got me thinking of them. I am not even sure i know much about their product.

And if i posted a Couturier interest, i might as well consider SA instruments as well? I don't know... More or less common? More or leas likely to be kept in playing condition?

As I understand it, most if the salvation army horns were either stencils or essentially frankenhorns assembled from various parts, so there were seldom two that were alike.

I'd say as a result, it's probably not likely to find a ton of consistency between one from the other. Some are probably quite nice, some probably not.

It was a nice stepping stone between my Distin and my Besson.

Had an issue with the 4v casing which was the final nail in the coffin and begging my parents for a new horn.

I had a Triumphonic Eb back in the 1990s. It was a 3+1 uncompensated. It did not lure me to the "Eb Dark Side" but it was a very okay tuba; I liked playing it. The intonation was very good. (I have been told that these were inconsistent, so perhaps I was lucky.) The sound was somewhere between the small-belled Bessons and an Imperial. I sold it when I needed cash to get to an audition. Otherwise, I probably would have owned it for a lot longer time.

So Robert, are you proclaiming that you are "Sally-curious"?

Ya gotta admit the Low Eb trombone with the pulley system is pretty cool in one of them links above.

And i have gotten to play an Eb SA tuba, both before and after it got cleaned up and some lead pipe issue addressed. Puts out plenty of sound for its size.

I suppose i could describe is as 'SAtiable curtiosity.
(Just cut me off if i ever wonder what a crocodile has for dinner)

I realize i now have at least 2 SA mouthpieces that are small eb shank (recently acquired even says triumph on it) and the triumph eb i can get my hands on takes a normal american shank (if i recall correctly) so i am left hanging... They do fit the B&H sa dixie model though, so there is that.
