CC TUBA HBS 290 Hirsbrunner

Post by Fdestcroix »

Looking for interested buyer of a vintage HBS 290 Tuba. Second owner. Was bought new direct from the factory in the 70's. It was used by my son in high school band but he has moved on to university and is looking for help with tuition. Located on the west coast of Canada. Can ship.

Hello everyone,

As some of you noticed I had listed the tuba on eBay. This proved to be more hassle than it was worth. I'm not familiar with that platform and Canadians could not bid on it and shipping was complicated. So I ended it before any bids were received.

What I have learned is that this is a very well sought after tuba.

Pm on this platform does not work for new users.

If you can reach out with your offer I'll be glad to consider.

There has been much interest and I thank all who have reached out to discuss.

From my online research there are similar looking units that appear to have sold for over 10k.

This one is older and could do with some polishing.

So I feel that a buy now price of $8500USD Or Best Offer.

Shipping will be included, up to $500. Via Air Canada Secure Cargo it can be picked up at the closest airport to buyer. Or buyers preferred choice for shipping, must require signature on receipt.

Payment must be received in full in advance. Invoice can be provided.

Thank you all for your consideration.

Does anyone know what this tuba ended up selling for? I am helping a friend sell his but cannot find many examples of the HBS 290 to base a starting price on? I sent a PM but I don’t if the seller will ever see it. Any assistance appreciated.

Thanks,

MG

The seller said $8500 or best offer, which might be good to ballpark a starting price. One is being sold near me for $8k or best offer.

I think this tuba was more commonly known in the USA as the HB-2. You might use that to do some research.

Plastic Tryplen rotors are going to be a sticking point (pun intended, because they tend to stick). You might adjust your price accordingly to account for that, if needed.

Good luck!

Thanks! The valves on this horn are not an issue. The owner had Kevin Powers work on them some years ago and he had not had any issues since.
