WTB: affordable monster truck

Post by bloke »

... because occasionally I have to do business in or near some of these college campuses, where they have those "roundabout" things. A monster truck should define that I wouldn't have to pay attention to them.

"Spitting fire" and some sort of painted on rebel flag would be considered a definite pluses.

Nah, a gen 11 4x4 F150 is fine at going through the middle of traffic circles, I have personal data on this.
You don't want Bilstein shocks and struts, as they don't give you much buffering to prvent dents and such, but the cheap Monroes with the coil overs on the rear shocks provide a nice ride for my instrument delivery F150. (Hauling a cello today, the tubas are staying at school.)

Knowing you are not serious, I will unseriously offer to sell you my 2014 F150 with the extended cab and the eight foot bed with a cap. You can get a lot of tubas in the back, or timpani, or whatever, and it won't even know they are there. Not four wheel drive but you don't need that for roundabouts.

Had I the right vehicle, I might buy this.
We offer lift kits for the GEN 2, 3, 4 & 5 Toyota Prius, Prius V, Prius C, and Prius Prime. We also offer kits for the Toyota Corolla, Lexus CT200h, Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Matrix, Scion TC and XB, and several others. Our lift kits consist of CAD drawn, laser cut, hand welded, American sourced material, front and rear strut/coil spacers made right here in the great USA. All hardware is class 10.9 ensuring it meets or exceeds any and all factory specifications, and FAR surpasses any other kit on the market. Don’t settle for polyurethane spacers that dry out, crack, and fall apart. Don’t put your life in the hands of grade 5 hardware. We offer the only metal Prius lift on the market that also provides camber and caster correction, and most importantly DOES NOT require the removal and replacement of your pressed in factory hardware.

The 5.0L Coyote? (My wife's garage queen is a 2012 5.0L 4x4 STX with 50k on it. It's my retirement/luxury truck.). What an engine! It's my second favorite Ford V8, second only to the 351 Windsor.

My daily driver/farm truck is a.2009XL 4x4 with the 4.6 3 valve and 215k and hers is a 2013 2 wheel drive with the 3.7l V6 which gets along nicely for a six banger, at least until I bury it in mud and reach for the 4wd knob which isn't there :wall:

But my instruments ride in the cab.

Back when Dodge built a truck!
My own Monster Truck below 😉 I completed some years back. Frame off - ground up restoration. 1931 Model A Ford quarter ton pickup - built in early March 1932 -very last of the A’s before the 1932 Model B.

A test run of 243 units by the factory - first Ford with an all steel top & a wider box with narrower rear fenders than a regular A pickup plus a high compression head. She spent over 5 decades working hard up on a dairy farm in Door County WI. Built Ford Tough - built to last. Of course the cow manure & tractor paint it was caked with probably helped preserve it. 😳😝

tofu, your Model A is absolutely gorgeous!

A guy had a Model A sedan in his garage in Caledonia, PA,.which was the last "town" before Medix Run, the couple of houses closest to my family's deer camp. (Back on the 184 BBb days)

Every time I'd go by in my neighbor's red Chevy (his Dad used to own a Chevy dealership back in the day), we'd talk about the Model A.

Thanks for the flashback.

I had to go look up Coyote, never heard of the name (I'm not an engine aficionado; if it goes, I'm happy. Except back in the bike days when I could identify what drove by by the sound of the engine.) I used a broker to buy this truck, because the Ford dealer here is so nasty that I simply will not do business with them (and a lot of other people won't either.) I told the broker what I wanted, which was extra cab, long bed, and heavy duty payload (It's 2615#) with towing. He found this one for me and I bought it. It is FAST. And it has about 40k miles on it, just sits the vast majority of the time. I bought it when I had a travel trailer, to move it around, and I took a trip to the East coast with the trailer about ten years ago. The truck did not even know the trailer was back there, and there have been a couple of freeway situations where the accelerator got me out of what could have been an iffy situation when using the brakes might not have turned out as well.

That would do it! I recommend some kind of crane/winch for loading tubas at that gate height, though!

It's ironic, I'm shopping for F150 suspension parts right now.

A local landscaper has his F350 raised a couple of feet. His wife and kids have to climb up the running boards hand over feet. I don't know if it's funny or sad.

Last i checked, both matchbox and hot wheels were affordable.

That help?

They even fit in a stocking hung by the chimney with care...
