Re: Big old York
Well it's not a new York. That would be on the East coast.

If it’s tourist season, why can’t we shoot them?
Re: Big old York
York Loyalist indicates the 726 had a .750 (3/4 inch) bore. That's similar to the King Symphony's of the period for which a .750 bore was the "large bore" option.

I love the little dig at the Conn 20Js in that ad copy.

Re: Big old York
I’m not understanding the conversation here. York 726 6/4 tubas came with a .750 bore and had a 26” bell. I talked with the seller a while ago. It is what it’s advertised as.
The catalog page posted by @windshieldbug lists the 726 as having a 26” bell.
I have the 4v front action version of this 736 (4th valve was an option, that my horn’s original owner thankfully opted for). It’s .750 bore with a FIXED 26” recording bell. Quite ungainly.

Some old Yorks, Martins, and perhaps a King rotary valved CC
Re: Big old York
My mistake, I misread which entry listed the bell-size for the 726. I've deleted the erroneous line.

Re: Big old York
Our high school (main part built around 1950 or so ??) had one of those stands, and a few of the sousaphone versions.
I wouldn't mind having one of both in good condition - just any case any of y'all wanna send me an Easter gift.
One, t'other, or both would allow me to switch far more quickly between tuba and other instruments on gigs.

Re: Big old York
My mistake.
I mis-interpreted "3/4" as a size (and not 3/4 INCH BORE).
Talk amongst yourselves.
