Buescher Bell Front BBb - SOLD

Post by Tubajug »

For sale is a Buescher BBb tuba. My calipers say the bore is 0.720” Bell is 19”. One bell screw, but I don’t believe it’s original. I can’t get it to turn one way or the other. Former school horn I bought but didn’t do anything with it. It does play. Slides pull, but are stiff. Needs a good cleaning. The bottom bow had duct tape on it because the bow guard is broken. I saw one small crack near the bow guard. I can remove the bow guard if you’d like. I can try and get the goo from the tape off as well. Asking $450. Located in Lincoln, NE. Willing to drive or pack and ship at buyer's expense. Will be shipped in two boxes.

Everyone probably squeezes different amounts on their calipers. LOL.

I tend to get .726" when measuring the bore of these instruments.

That's really close to .728", which is 18.5mm

Also, if someone has a circa 1960s or '70s
Bundy, Selmer, Signet, Buescher sousaphone that's intact other than missing all the pistons (and you would rather have the sousaphone working rather than this tuba... or maybe you could move the pistons back and forth and have both...??), it's my understanding that these 1920s pistons will work in those 1970s and 1960s Selmer USA made sousaphones.

Bump. Make an offer! I'd like to get some things cleared out.

I did a rough shipping quote for someone and it was just under $200 for both boxes.

Price on the horn is negotiable. It's not pretty, but it plays. If you didn't notice, the bell stack and bottom bow are one piece.

I owned one of these and it was a sweet horn! No-brainer price. If I lived anywhere remotely close to the cornhuskersphere, I would buy it.
