Happy Tuba Tuesday. The Museum features a Besson, Model 221, BB flat tuba, 3 piston, c.1955.

Serial #: 144090

Bell Diameter 17 1/8”, Bore Size .730, Height 39.5”.


“50 MEDALS OF HONOR / BESSON / LONDON-PARIS / NEW YORK / MADE IN ENGLAND” on bell. “BESSON / BREVETE” on 2nd valve. Detachable upright bell.

With the prevalence of compensating bessons, this seems all the more unusual. And a removable upright bell probably is rare. Is the rngravong on the removable bell?
