Answers to recent questions:
(1) The valves are like new. The axles are perfect.
(2) The valve stops ("bumpers") were replaced in 2020. At present these show no signs of wear, no indentations, and they remain pliable (using the "fingernail test").
(3) I installed nylon washers under the valve caps to make it easier to remove valve caps when oiling the valve axles.
(4) The valve axles and all linkages are lubricated with Hetman "Bearing And Linkage #14" .
(5) There is only one water key. It is downstream from the valves and upstream from the main tuning slide. The water key gasket is cork and is in good condition. If the buyer wishes, I will replace the cork gasket with a synthetic gasket.
(6) I installed a pal nut on the first valve slide stop to keep the adjuster from rotating.
(7) There is an "S-shaped" hook on top of the first valve slide to make it easier to reach the slide when using the left arm above the top bow. The hook is not original.
(8) The thumb ring appears to be stock. It is very comfy.
(9) The "pull ring" on the crook of the second valve slide appears to be stock.
(10) All slides pull smoothly. To lubricate slides, I first wipe old lubes off the slides (but not the female slide tubing on the instrument proper) and I clean my hands. Then I put Hetman "Slide-Gel #7" on the fingertips of one hand and completely thin-coat both tubes of each slide. Then I apply Hetman "Heavy Slide #6" directly onto the slide tubes and work each slide tube in the corresponding (female) valve tubing to spread the lubricant.
