Rather than Nikolas clear 2105 rattle cans...

Post by bloke »

...at least for a bit, I'm going to work with Rustoleum CUSTOM clear lacquer.

I used a can recently...

- dried quick
- didn't run
- didn't blush (though it was humid)
- looks good (bright/smooth)
- UNLIKE NIKOLAS features a nice FAN spray pattern nozzle
- cheaper than Nikolas
- available off the local shelf (no expensive-ass shipping cost, NOR an add-on HAZARDOUS MATERIALS shipping fee)
- discount price if bought by the case
- boasts more durability than Rustoleum's standard clear lacquer
- formulated for metal surfaces

As far as a substitute for Nikolas gold-tinted (rattle can), I believe I'll just spray (mixed) Nikolas out of my old (OLD!) Binks gun and Devilbiss compressor...
I can add other hues (beyond "gold") to come closer to matching aged clear, when doing touch-ups.
