life's little pleasures II
I needed to order a mellophone main slide from Yamaha (too trashed to fool with), so I went ahead and ordered some marching baritone finger buttons (handsome, and - for whatever reason - cheaper than "euphonium", yet the same size/thread/etc.) buttons for my YEP-321 (on which I installed super-utility buttons when I first picked it up for $100 and fixed it up). I'm using the utility buttons to do an economy repair on one of those ancient YBB-103 tubas for a middle school.

Re: life's little pleasures II
I recently bought some silver Yamaha buttons for my Martin Medium Eb 4+1 (the 4 being King valves). Spent the extra for the real MOP.
Makes no playing difference but they sure look nice.

There's a few inconsequential dents left in my $100 321 which I sort of hurriedly put into good playing condition a long time ago.York-aholic wrote: Tue Nov 04, 2025 10:09 pm I recently bought some silver Yamaha buttons for my Martin Medium Eb 4+1 (the 4 being King valves). I can refinish a euphonium a lot faster than I can refinish a tuba, and I was sort of wondering about spending a day picking over it and maybe another day refinishing it. I probably won't, but maybe the finger buttons will encourage me to think about it more.
I really like it because it's one of the real ones that has a full length third slide, a professional style water key, and doesn't have those crap ass plastic valve guides. It also has pistons that were made the way pistons are supposed to be made. I'm sure it's 50 years old, at least.
