Götz bags no longer available

Götz is no longer producing gig bags and is in the process of being bought out/relocated. We have a few models left: Eastman 825 triple padded (2), 836 standard padding (2), 832 double padding (2), all in black. Please let me know if one of these models interests you.

I'm sorry that we're not able to get anymore bags from them but we'll continue to source from Cronkhite and Soundline as our main suppliers for tuba bags. If any new manufacturers/products pop up, we'll be sure to look into them. If you are aware of any new bag producers, shoot me a message.

No skin in the game, but have you seen those leather Stencel bags made in Poland? They look really nice. No idea about cost.

I have and thanks for that lead. I was hoping to hear some word that they exhibited at ITEC and folks got to put their hands on them but nothing as of yet. I would also like to see a Cordura (or similar fabric) option as leather is often priced out of reach.

The FMB branded bag looks good on my computer screen. Any experience with that bag brand . Potentially looking for a bag that is made for my Cerveny 683 . If I could first sell my Cronkite piggy bag . It’s a little looser than I like on this horn .

Correction: I do have an FMB bag that accompanied one of our Adams instruments. This was a one-off and I was told Adams was going to another supplier. The padding of the bag is great but the clasps are an issue for me. It sits very well on my back and protects the horn well.

The Soundline bag for a Lidl 603 (piggy) might fit and those are available to us.

The FMB web site claims that the FMB bags are made in Europe. Aren’t the Guard bags made in India ?

Correct and that's why I left the door open. Will have to delve further into the FMB bags.

The German brand GEWA makes a line of soft cases with some fiberglass sheeting to provide some impact resistance, their SPS (side protection system) line. The drum cases are seemingly well received and I've been interested in how their brass offerings compare but no one seems to carry them here in the states. The zipper/handle setup on the tuba bag seems a little suspect, but an interesting idea nonetheless!

Without trying the bag on, I think the bag would sit too high on the back, like the Tuxedo bags of old. I had one years ago and had to duck to go through doors. It is another option, though and thanks for sending the link.

I would rather duck through doors than get whacked in the back of the knees like with the Protec bags.

I have/had the FMB, Gewa and Soundline in regular use. The FMB bags offer the best protection and are made of very strong material in a good quality at a very fair cost available here in Germany. But the Gewa and especially the Soundline bags are not far behind. An additional plus of the stiffer/stronger material of the FMB is the easier toploading as the bag does not collapse and then tends to e.g. interfere with the mouthpipe or valve section (as the Soundline bag does).

Downside: I had the Bayreuth 5/4 size bag which tended to hang low and "whack into the back of my legs/knees". The Soundline bags (I have the small F-Tuba and the largest Kaiser size bag) are more comfortable to carry as they sit higher on the back (this and the straps), although I would consider them slightly weaker.

If I had to choose again, I'd taken the FMB for my large Kaiser, too, as I have to be cautious with doors carrying the Soundline Kaiser Bag and would prefer the easier loading and (in my opinion) better protection of the FMB. Besides that, I am fine with the Soundline.

Well that stinks. Those were the best of the best:
* Excellent quality
* Top-loader
* Svelte
* Not the same thing everyone else has

I had several over the years. The bag for my rotary Willson 3050 was exceptional. For such a large and unwieldy tuba, it made it a joy to carry around.

The Miraphone bags are my second favorite. But they're not quite as good looking, and more common.
