My 2165 has a scar on the leadpipe.
I'm thinking of replacing the leadpipe to recover from this wound.
Is there a place where I can secure or purchase the lead pipe of 2165?
I contacted Melton, but I received an email from them that it was impossible to purchase. But it is not clear whether this contact was delivered to Melton or to their affiliated group.
If I can't get the original lead pipe of 2165, I'm looking for a lead pipe of 45.
If you have friends or brothers who know information, please give us information.
I'm looking for the lead pipe of 2165.

That doesn't sound like a need for replacing, though if it's the original pipe I'd take it off, throw it in the trash, and put a 6450/45SLP/Thor/etc pipe on it. REGARDLESS of condition, even if it's the most pristine original 2165 pipe ever, which it's not.
Where are you located? Here in the US, I was able to get ahold of a 6450 pipe from Meinl Weston.
They may have told you no because they don't make the 2165 pipe anymore.
Your other option is to find someone to make you a new pipe.

Thank you for the information. First of all, I'm not currently in US.Sousaswag wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 6:47 pm That doesn't sound like a need for replacing, though if it's the original pipe I'd take it off, throw it in the trash, and put a 6450/45SLP/Thor/etc pipe on it. I’m currently in South Korea. In addition, the head of the total sales in this area has not imported the accessories of Melton tubas such as 2250 and 6450 for several months.
In other words, in my brother's words, even if it's not a 2165 lead pipe, it doesn't matter if I put a lead pipe in another product line?

They made two different bend patterns.
Would you be willing to post a picture of the entire mouth pipe on the instrument?

Hello Reins264,
I have the leadpipe mandrels for both the 2165 CC-Tuba and the 45SLP F-Tuba from Melton/MeinlWeston and can fabricate either pipe.
The only issue is you will need someone in South Korea who can do the bending. In a worse case, you can have someone unsolder the original pipe, mail it to me in Germany and I can duplicate the bend
If you are interested, please write me directly at:

Have a good weekend and cheers to everyone on the forum as well

Hey Reins,
You can order the 45SLP pipe through an authorized Buffet Crampon Brass Specialist dealer - https://www.melton-meinl-weston.com/en/dealers/
Part number SP15130. It comes straight and you have to find someone else to bend and install it. I ordered one a year ago and the part took ~2 months to arrive. Then I had to find someone to install it.
