Found a Gig Bag for my Eastman EBB-562 Tuba

Post by rodgeman »

After being away from community band for over 8 years I was able to join a local Community Band. A couple of years ago I bought a demo Eastman EBB-562 BBb tuba from Dillon Music and have wanted to play in a group. The tuba comes with a wheeled hard case which is quite protective but very heavy so I was looking for a gig bag but it was difficult to know which one would fit.

Then I found the following bag at Taylor Music and ordered it.
B&S Professional Tuba Super Sac Gig Bag

It fits the following tubas :
B&S GR51
Miraphone 186-4U, 187-4U
Yamaha YBB201, YBB321
... also fits other Upright tubas with
Max Bell of 17.75" & Max Tuba Length of 40"

I have been told that the EBB-562 is based on the B&S GR51. It fits just fine in the bag. I put it in a folding grocery cart (four wheeled) and it makes transporting it better. I know the risks with a gig bag but this solution works for me.

Thanks for reading.

Would that fit a tuba with a length of 40.5 in. I see on the web site it says max length of 40” but I’m wondering if there is a bit of flexibility/give in the fabric to stretch a bit.

The Eastman is 39.76" in length. I think it would but you would be compressing the padding and might have a hard time zipping it up. But that is up to you.

I use a Protec 18" for mine. At first it seemed a little small (one area where the zipper was "snug"), but over time it has molded to my tuba pretty well. Good budget bag.

I've still got two triple-padded Goetz Supersacs in black for the 825/562. If anyone is interested, send me a message.
