well...maybe better than that...but I suppose that would do.

sad:
Our pianist (have worked with him since the early 1980's - now in his own early 90's, and deaf...though he had been playing with us deaf - keeping track of where we were in the music) can no longer drive, so I wonder who the new person/instrument #4 will be...

...The band leader - Dan - is a very fine banjoist (probably 82 years old himself...went to a Mass. prep school/Dartmouth/ is a zillionaire (commercial real estate "tycoon", but anything but any sort of snob - universally liked/loved - lives in a bungalow), but - even though two chording instruments - we used the pianist, as he himself is so beloved and a remarkably fine player. Maybe (to replace him...??) a trombone or a drummer - either of which would take some pressure off of me.

Here's (video link below) Rene (he was a young boy in Holland during WWII...true: He and his playmates would play "dodge-ball" with the German Luftwaffe strafing the cobblestone streets...Whichever kid came the closest to the 7.92mm shelling was the "winner") playing the piano (deaf), Jim is playing the clarinet - at that time - with his four bottom front teeth missing...due to a non-cancerous tumor, before he got them replaced with implants. (Jim also plays flute/sax/trumpet/trombone/bass trumpet/piano/drums/bass guitar). Rene was also a photographer/videographer...many nationally-seen TV commercials...a whole bunch of SEARS commercials, etc...

If any of you are country music fans, Dan (LOL...funny: at least, to me, as Dan should probably be vacationing on the French Riviera, and - additionally - plays a short-neck 4-string tenor banjo) actually tours and records with Billy Dean.

4-bar intro...??
I'll probably play some sort of crap that follows these changes...though this particular order of the changes appears nowhere in the song (insert shoulder-shrug here)

F /// |//// | // F+ / A7 / | Image

...unless I'm reminded of some "intro" that I have forgotten...(??)

To me, that intro would be this.

Using the first 2 notes of the melody but down the octave:
bah-|dump bah-|dump bah-|dump bah-dump bah-|dump Melody(pick up)||

Not sure which recording that's from but I've heard and played that one before.

I love that Wilbur de Paris one, though. Man that guy could play.

Believe it or not, I totally get it....probably bar IV (of the intro) would be a bass line descending from A to E (landing on D on REAL bar #1) with the melody instrument beginning the melody on bar IV of the intro.

I thought you might understand what I was going for.

After the "dump" on bar 4, I'd lay out to give space for the melody and then just come in on the downbeat. But the walk down would work, too.

Lemme know if that's the one the bandleader was thinking of.

Have a good gig!

Truth be told, he won't give a damn what I do. This whole thread was sort of a troll/joke, but I ended up getting some good ideas out of it and some interesting YouTube links as well, I'm glad I started the thread !
