Continuing with the purge of my largest tubas and mouthpieces, I'm offering my Wessex 5-valve BBb Grand. I am the first owner. After I sold it several years ago I realized that I needed it back for brass band and when it came available I bought it back. It has cosmentic issues with scratches, dent removal, etc. It plays very well. And I would keep it, but its size and weight make it difficult for me to manage now with my aging, smaller physique.
It is the vary tuba that Chris Olka reviewed on YouTube. Wessex only made a couple 5-valve versions, before only offering 4 valve ones and touting the very comparable and more expensive Prokofiev BBb. The price for a new silver plated Grand 4-valve is $8200. It's anyone's guess when one will be available and what the price will be then. This horn comes with a hard shell, latched case (1 broken latch). Specs are 20" bell, bore is 0.750"/.797"/.87" and 36" tall.
I prefer not to ship but that's not out of the question. It resides with me at my shop located 45 minutes west of Fort Wayne IN. Asking price $6300.

I am the original owner. The bell has not been changed or modified. The bright line across the throat of the bell is clear vinyl tubing to damp some intrinsic bell vibration. It improves clarity and projection.
