Marzan CC tuba SOLD
This is a real "time capsule" find. My former student bought it around 1975 before he went to study at IU with Harvey Philips. Things didn't work out and he changed majors; sending his tuba to his mother to store away. He never returned to playing it. His mother passed away this summer and now he realizes that it is too nice and improtant not to be used and appreciated, so he has asked me to sell it for him.
The tuba is about 5/4 size with a 19mm/0.750" bore. The bell is 18" and the horn is 37" tall. It was made in Geretsreid, Germany in a workshop that is now the Nirschl shop. Fred Marzan was a rather visionary by having York style BBb and CC instruments made before it became common to make those designs. This horn features tune-on-the-fly with access to the main tuning slide with the left hand. It has a great 5/4 voice much in the tradition of the classic American sound of the York instruments.
No bag nor case with it. Shipping is possible at the buyer's expense. Asking $4500. Contact me at tubanurse@yahoo.com or PM.

Re: Marzan CC tuba (Nirschl-B&M)
Why is it when the Navy sends me back to Japan that everyone sells their awesome tubas. I would be on this in a heart beat.

Re: Marzan CC tuba reduced $3950 and even more now $3450
Thats a steal of a price. When Mr. Jacobs playtested my Marzan Bohm&Meinl he said "that certainly is a York isn't it?" LOVED that horn and played it for many years before passing it on to a student in one of the local studios. No idea why Sam still has this, the big Marzans are great orchestral horns and readily-blend into tuba sections in band.

I think it's because we older folk already have what we want, and the younger folk don't know any name but Eastman.
Re: Marzan CC tuba reduced $3950 and even more now $3450
In the electric bass and guitar world there is the term "Fender-shaped-object" to refer to guitars and basses that are more or less clones of well known established Fender basses and guitars (ie precision bass, jazz bass, stratocaster, etc). I believe in the tuba world we have a phenomenon that has yet to be officially called out and that is the "York-shaped-object." How I would have phrased @Mary Ann comment would have beenMary Ann wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 1:02 pm I think it's because we older folk already have what we want, and the younger folk don't know any name but Eastman.
Ok ok, yes, there are plenty of people also buying the lesser expensive Miraphone-shaped-objects as well.I think it's because we older folk already have what we want, and the younger folk are only after York-shaped-objects.
