Holton H179-osaurus double horn

Post by bloke »

It was one of the last two repairs for the middle school that go with the high school that's out of town. We are leaving blokeplace tomorrow morning at 7:00 to deliver them at 8:00 and their band camp starts at 9:00.
The bell stem was all smashed in with an interior bend and and exterior bends (more than dents). The three main braces that hold the valve section to the bugle weren't anywhere close to touching anything, and the bell flare was all smushed as well.
I'm thinking there were about twenty solder joints hanging loose, but not actually any broken braces.
I managed to get every brace back onto its original footprint all the slides moving, all the valves moving quietly, and back in the case in two hours.
If the Lord God Almighty was paying any attention to the instructions I was giving this French horn, it went to Hades and back twenty or thirty times. 🙄
