Mozart Serenade for tuba

Post by sdloveless »

I'm putting my music history ignorance on display here.

I have a copy of Serenade, W.A. Mozart, transcribed and edited for tuba and piano by R. Winston Morris. Shawnee Press. Etc., etc. The description on the back page does not specify which serenade. Would anyone know specifically which Serenade Prof. Morris transcribed? Thanks!

IIRC, it's a transcription of the aria "O Isis and Osiris" from Mozart's opera The Magic Flute.

But he transcribed a lot of stuff, so I may be thinking of a different piece than what you have. Does it have a Köchel number? (the little "Kv" number)

I don't think it's that one, but I could be mistaken. I can't find a Kv number.

The young man in this video is playing the 2 and 4th movements, menuetto and rondo, and I think it's the Morris arrangement.

This is fairly low quality recording of the first movement, allegro. I can't find any other recordings.

Yeah, I was thinking of a different arrangement. Sorry. My mistake, sir.

Pretty sure the original is not a Serenade, but his
Divertimento No. 3 in Eb Major, K166/159d
