Tuba Tuesday: Keefer, B flat Baritone, 3 piston, c.1923

Post by bisontuba »

Happy Tuba Tuesday. The Museum today features a Keefer, B flat Baritone, 3 piston, c.1923.

Serial #: 11757

Bell Diameter 10 3/8”, Bore Size .560, Height 26 1/4”.

Comments:

MADE BY / KEEFER / Williamsport, P.A. inside scroll on bell. Keefer in oval on third valve. 1 2 3 on valves. 11757 and LP on second valve. Nice knurled mouthpiece receiver, like the late Distin horns.

Keefer!

(i wonder if there is a Keefer madness website out there...

If not, there should be...)

Sorry... I'll try to remain dignified and reserved.

PS. Is there a term for the pistons sticking up over the top bow? It's a weird and cool feature...

It lists all known Keefer instruments from the beginning with serial numbers and descriptions...
