Denis Wick AT#Y / AT#UY

Post by awfi »

I've noticed some of the American shank mouthpieces are stamped AT#Y, and others are stamped AT#UY. Is there any difference?

The link you shared is explaining the difference between a European shank mouthpiece and an American shank mouthpiece. My curiosity was why some of the American shank mouthpieces are labeled as AT#Y, and others AT#UY (both American shank) and if there are any differences between them, or if it's just a stamping change that happened at some point.

I found my answer, though. Thank you.

The “U” is for ultra. I haven’t really followed these mouthpieces but maybe the AT#Y was an early model. That’s happened with other Wick mouthpieces where the ultra version came out after an original version.

I believe they have just been re stamped. Older models are stamped 3U or 3Y

Now the 3U will still mean our Euro Shank - the end of the receiver is set at .538
3UY is American Shank - the end of the receiver is set at .525

We have made a few slight changes to the models…you’ll like them :) There is something for everyone with 9 models ranging from the AT Zero to the AT8

Can you share anything about the changes? Thanks! @tindalltuba
