Happy International Tuba Day 2021! This is a short clip of the end of one of the Bordogni vocalises. I was testing my Mack 410, so it was some time ago (2016, I think) and I am using a PT-88, which is NOT the mouthpiece I ended up liking best with this horn. This was the very first time I dragged this tuba with me to work. (Oh, I ended up using the Sellmansberger Symphony. The reversed backbore taper did it for me. It gives this horn a LOT more usable clarity and color than the 88 or anything else I stuck into the small end.)

I don't know how I missed this post (I made a few FB posts about International Tuba Day, but somehow I missed this one). Happy International Tuba Day (belated)!
I've watched that video numerous times. Good stuff!

Oh, this one has never been posted. It is just like a half-minute of the end of some Bordogni. I recorded three of them but only released the one that showed off the tuba the most (and not me, so much) AND I did not know how to edit stuff back then. This is an edit of one of the other two videos that I never released, and that seemed to be short enough to hold someone's attention by not being boring. The pitch improved when I changed mouthpieces.

Thanks, though…
I assumed it was the same one. My bad!

Wade,
The more I think about it, the more I remember you talking in the other video about a 50 yoa prostate and having to pee. Still was Bordogni. Or am I lost on that also?

Yep. This was my first time actually playing this tuba. It was three orchestra kiddie concerts, which can be a great place to trial new gear or horns, as the full orchestra is playing decent rep for middle schoolers — low pressure and high standards make for a good testbed.
These three were made before and between the three concerts. The one you know was the longest without a colleague interrupting me or leading me into a conversation. This one was between the first two and was quite short as the concertmaster decided to have some social time with me while I was clearly working. Whatever. This was the end of that truncated take; I forgot to turn the camera back on. The one you know was Borgodni, but a different one. I wish I had some recordings of me at work, but that is very much against our CBA, so even these snippets are rare and could get me in trouble.

I won’t tell anyone.
Are there any recordings of the orchestra that are “official” for public consumption?
