Proceeds to post a video in the altissimo register that is better than 90% of the tuba videos out there.

I've actually been using this piece (in Eb same as you right?) as regular practice on the baritone horn to try to develop that classic British Brass Band Baritone sound in the upper register.. I can safely say I still sound like a tuba player honking on the baritone. Luckily as second baritone I don't have to play that high concert Bb very often.

Ok .. how about you give us something to make fun of?? Play it down two octaves!

Unless you had embedded it here, I'm can't watch it with my regular browser (which has adblock, and I'm not making any exceptions for any websites), so I had to go to an alternate browser (which is not logged in to youtube) which is why I couldn't click a "like" for you.

Wow, very nice! Didn't expect a tuba to play in that range. We use this piece in my tbone quartet. That is a hard melody to play. Not only is it high,but it has some odd intervals to hear and play correctly. Thanks for posting.

If you want to hear something to make fun of, maybe I'll post me playing that on tuba. I guarantee that would be a chuckle.

Nice. It does not surprise me that a trumpet player can play up there; I can't play quite that high because I'm a horn player, not a trumpet player, but for high brass players the chops know how to do it even in a tuba cup.

There's one thing that I still can't believe. NOBODY asked me which mouthpiece I'm using hahahahah... Among trumpet players, every time there is somebody playing high notes, the first question is always about the mouthpiece! Yes! The vast majority think the mouthpiece is the secret

That's a strong high register Might as well just play it on euphonium. Try playing those ascending lines without a breath breaking them up. A bigger breath before those ascending lines, playing a complete phrase is much more musical

You're absolutely right! I've tried tirelessly to eliminate that breath breaking, but unfortunately I haven't been able to. Maybe my lungs are small, or more likely, I still need to improve my technique so I don't waste so much air on the low notes. Thank you for your tips!!!

Don't worry. I remember the first time I played a sousaphone on the marching field as a freshman in high school in August 1976, and it was all I could do to play a bottom-of-the-staff F, and that with a fuzzy tone, having transitioned from being a trumpet player. We have all been there.
