Marcus Arnold - from somewhere in the Nashville area.
He's the former owner/narrator of the Mr. Jack Daniels Silver Cornet Band. I might be confused about the timeline and the ownership, but I believe that - before he owned it - he may have been the tuba player in it.
We've only met once at my long-deceased parents' retirement home over in Bella Vista Arkansas (immediately north of Bentonville, and touching the Missouri state line). When I was visiting my parents, they put on a concert there, and we and my parents attended.
I was surprised when he recognized me and had heard of the jazz band that I was involved with at that time (which I've spoken of here often). He handed me a recording of the Jack Daniels Band, and I either went to my parents house to fetch one of my band and handed him a reciprocal recording (or maybe - ?? - I mailed him one). I did buy one of their cool t-shirts.
This will only be the second time that we've met ever. That first time (recounted above) must have been around 1982 or 1983.
I believe I've worked once or twice with a couple of the people who played cornet in that band, but the only person that I really know very well who was involved with that band is Jennifer Kummer - very busy Nashville French horn session player, who played E-flat tenor horn in that band (not in the early '80s, but later - when she and her extremely talented keyboard-playing husband, Steve - piano concertos, pop, country, session work, all styles of jazz - moved from Memphis to Nashville).
I'm looking forward to seeing Marcus.
He told me what he wants me to do to his tuba, but it just sounded like the regular list of things that I hear, so I didn't commit it to memory. He'll show me in-person, anyway.
