This is a real "time capsule" find. My former student bought it around 1975 before he went to study at IU with Harvey Philips. Things didn't work out and he changed majors; sending his tuba to his mother to store away. He never returned to playing it. His mother passed away this summer and now he realizes that it is too nice and improtant not to be used and appreciated, so he has asked me to sell it for him.
The tuba is about 5/4 size with a 19mm/0.750" bore. The bell is 18" and the horn is 37" tall. It was made in Geretsreid, Germany in a workshop that is now the Nirschl shop. Fred Marzan was a rather visionary by having York style BBb and CC instruments made before it became common to make those designs. This horn features tune-on-the-fly with access to the main tuning slide with the left hand. It has a great 5/4 voice much in the tradition of the classic American sound of the York instruments.
No bag nor case with it. Shipping is possible at the buyer's expense. Asking $4500. Contact me at tubanurse@yahoo.com or PM.
