I never miss a chance to go through a factory. Lovely video - I had assumed Yamaha was making trumpets in China these days - great to see they still have Japanese production. Watching reminds me that there is still an amazing level of hand work making a horn. Personally, I hope that never changes. Something about another human being used their skill and care in creating something that can in turn be used in the creation of art. Hopefully, the purchasers will treasure & appreciate for a long time. Band directors should make their students watch stuff like this so they have an idea of how their instruments are made. I think it would be a revelation to many. It’s like when they take kids in Chicago out to a farm and the kids are stunned to learn that’s where their Big Mac ingredients come from. Such a disconnect with reality for so many of them.

Those are the "nice" Yamaha trumpets (actually made in Japan).

shhh!!!...In the past, I would go through a scrapyard in South Bend, carefully pick through the scrap brass, go home, and build Bach Stradivarius trumpets (serial numbers on the casings that obviously are not found on any "shop cards").
