Tuba Tuesday: Mirafone 186-5U CC Tuba, c. 1966

This Tuba Tuesday the Museum features one of its vintage Mirafone tubas...a CC model 186-5U 5 rotary valve tuba in brass with nickel silver trim, c. 1966.

MADE IN GERMANY” on back of bell. “MIRAFONE'” on rim (silver) of bell. “MIRAFONE / 3257” on bell.

TE used to have a lot of Yamaha stuff on hand at one point in time and at a fair price. I traded a Mirafone 186 BBb in on a YCB-822S for my first CC tuba back in 1994 or so. But, I’m kinda surprised this one is in the archive since it would be a pretty easy sale at any point in time and looks to be a very serviceable horn.

And I agree, given the halfass description of the tuba, it does seem unspectacular. But, also I'm sure it is (or could be made to be) a very nice instrument.
