Tuba Tuesday: Keefer Eb tuba with special finger touches

Post by bisontuba »

Happy Tuba Tuesday.

This Tuba Tuesday we highlight an instrument with a unique feature in the collection: our Brua C Keefer EEb tuba from circa 1922, shown below. Keefer was an American maker from 1909 to 1960 and was located in Williamsport, PA, because Brua C Keefer, Sr., bought the Distin factory in 1909, which had located to Williamsport from England in 1889. Keefer was the Secretary Treasurer for Distin when he bought the Distin factory.
What makes this Keefer EEb tuba unique in the collection is that the finger buttons have the Keefer logo enameled on them. It is the only instrument in the collection with logos on the finger buttons.

And front action to boot! I don't think i have across a front action Keefer or Distin yet... So i view that as rarer than the finger touches.

(well, unless you count their usual helicon configuration as front action)

Likewise, and I've owned/run across more than a few!
If it’s tourist season, why can’t we shoot them?
