Re: Palm Springs CL: 186 BBb

We see those Exclusiv models quite a lot here in the Netherlands indeed, 5 valves is a rarity thought, mostly 3 valve models.

Almost all are nickel plated

Aha, you got it so quickly!
Very cool tuba. Odd that the seller called it a Swiss tuba. Maybe a Swiss retailer that sold it initially?

Re: 3D printed practice mute?

Large format 3D printers (~325 mm³) are becoming more accessible now, before it was either high end professional ($$$) or entry level hobbyist machines.

To work out a good design you need someone with a large format printer that can iterate and fine-tune the design.

Re: bargain (fabulous) headphones

I looked on various 3D print websites but can only find the 7506 hangers, not the 7502.

3D printed is less sturdy then injection molded of course, but material cost is so low you can easily get multiples.

Interested in an OG ultimate for my Amati B&F Kaiser. What would the price, and shipping, be to this side of the pond?

Re: bye-bye ugly string slidestops

I specifically asked to leave the stops raw brass this tuba has multiple raw brass accents (receiver, paddle bar and linkages) and I like how it combines with the nickel plating.

The stops are nice and quiet now, bit i might put one some clear heat shrink tube

My F tuba also has a similar slide ...

bye-bye ugly string slidestops

My Amati B&F 69 Kaiser had strings attached to the 1st and 4th slides as slide stops, I never liked these and also for the 4th slide it was on the wrong side and the attachment point pushed into my arm which wasn't very comfortable.
Because of the way I hold the tuba I didn't need the handle on the ...

Re: Modding 4th valve tubing

My Amati 6/4 has an aftermarket 4th valve. It is an "open wrap" and not stuffy at all.

So did you only change the rotor or the casihg as well?
Also where did you buy an aftermarket rotor? I can't seem to find it on the internet. I will first check for any leaks/missaligments, but if that ...

Re: the advantages to this theoretical precision build:

My Amati B&F Kaiser is currently at Adams to have some work done. The handle on the 1st slide is being moved to the 3rd slide (which is behind the 1st). Both slides can then be manipulated from the same hand position.

I do generally need to push the 1st slide in (for the C in the staff) and the 3rd ...
