The upright bell Martin is the real deal. I had a chance to play it at various stages of the restoration process.

An immense amount of work has gone into it and it plays amazingly.


What are the ergonomics like? How heavy is it? Were the valves redone? Intonation?

So it's like a book club. Only tuba club. I cant see much via the link because I dont have facebook and it looks like a private group to join. So your in Chicago, are there other branches? Who runs/ teaches the group? Sounds really great. Like tuba studio when I was in college, only more effective ...

I think the argument to be made for the two-bit setup as opposed to a single piece would be having two axes of movement both up and down and side to side, in order to adjust the position of the leadpipe more precisely as opposed to the more limited range of motion of a single tube.
