I too would love to learn bagpipes, however a good set of pipes is cost prohibitive for me. I do have a guitar though and am currently trying to find someone local willing to give a 67 year old retired truck driver some lessons.

Re: A easy question about a tuba in the pit
This of course depends on the setting of your platform. Nobody walks by where I set my horn and I place my horn on it's bell as well. The only person who might walk near my horn sits to my left and he usually exits to the left. I set my horn down to my right, where as I said, nobody walks by

Re: Mutes
I love the way a Humes & Berg Mute looks and would love to have one. The throat of my 496 seems a bit large for one though. I had the same issue with the 187 I used to have. The H&B would drop right in. I used a Tennessee Tech mute on it for a while because it was the only thing I could find...

Re: Tuba for Travel
As someone who has lived and worked around Africa for many years, for heaven's sake, don't take a tuba of any kind, on your trip. It will become an extra piece of irritating luggage. Especially Africa. I have heard that they will only allow a certain amount of luggage to leave, but you can bring al...

Do you still have to wait forever for them to process your order though? I had to cancel an order with them on account of their delay.

Re: Eastman EEP321 vs. John Packer JP274
As far as your fingerings are concerned, compensating means nothing. Your fingerings will remain the same and Baritone Treble Clef parts should be readily available. If your church group doesn't have these parts, the difficulty will arise there. My only suggestion is that you'd also need to learn Ba...

Re: A question of "playability'.....
Being primarily a church musician myself I would say that a lot of it has to do with not only the responsiveness of the horn but it's ability to play in tune. I own a few horns and my ZO Tiny Dragon is gonna be a bear to try to play in tune at fortissimo levels when that won't be the case for my Mir...

My screen name is a tribute to him and his many wonderful works. and quite fortunately, I have not been sued for using the name of one of his characters as my own screen name. Thank you Mr. Schickele for your many talents and the way you have blessed so many lives with them.

Re: Looking for concert band music.
While I'm working on typing out the parts with my notation program (NoteWorthy Composer), our director says he will attempt to scan the score to Top Gun to his Sibelius program and attempt to secure parts through that. I don't know if he will be able to or not and the gentleman I asked at our local ...

Re: Looking for concert band music.
My high school band played a Top Gun medley when I was in 8th grade (we were a K-12 building and the high school band needed the 8th graders to have enough kids) back in 1995. They might still have it, but I don't know if they would sell it Thanks! But I was able to find a score of the Robert W. Sm...

The Chatfield Library shows to have Top Gun, but it also shows no way to get it out. No results for Footloose there.scottw wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 10:47 am How about the Chatfield Library? Or https://bandmusicpdf.org/
And BandMusicPDF shows no results for either piece.

Re: Looking for concert band music.
OK, here's what I've found out so far. The Top Gun arrangement I'm hunting for was arranged by Robert W. Smith and is permanently out of print. I was however able to download a free PDF of the score. so it looks like I'll be writing out parts. As for Footloose, the marching band arrangement ain't go...

Re: Looking for concert band music.
The marching band arrangement for Footloose is close, but I'm not sure if a cigar will be awarded or not. And as for Top Gun, I've seen the Danger Zone listed, but I'm not really sure if that's what we're looking for either. I think the general consensus may be leaning towards the Top Gun: Maverick ...

Looking for concert band music.
Hi everyone! I'm in a bit of a pickle. Our community band had an auction of sorts and this was to patronize our patrons by playing a song of their choosing. The catch was that they had to buy the music and it had to be arranged for concert band. The two songs we are having difficulty in searching for...

Re: Modding a Eb Helicon to Bb Helicon
While I am certainly no tech, I do know that a lot of tubing would have to be soldered in to make the conversion to BBb. Not only to the main body of the horn, but to the journals as well. Is it possible? Yes, if you have the cash. Is it advisable? I wouldn't do it. To me, it would be easier to find...
