Re: WTB: Doug Elliott TU N cup and American shank
I didn't have any luck with the first DE part I was looking for, so let's try something else.
Anyone have an N cup and shank that they'd sell me?

Re: Conn 10J questions
Thanks for the feedback, everyone. It sounds like a 10J might be worth trying.
If I get one and end up liking it, one modification possibility could be to find a three-valve compensating E-flat B&H/Besson for cheap, lengthen the valve circuits to B-flat length, and swap the valves onto the 10J. The ...

Re: Conn 10J questions
Let me clarify: I'm not at all "uncomfortable" playing an E-flat tuba. I played only E-flat tuba for many years, and did so pretty successfully.
There's also an economic angle to this question: I can buy a Conn 10J for much less money than I could any compensating E-flat tuba. Given that I don't ...

Conn 10J questions
I'll start with my two main questions, and then give the backstory behind them for those who care to read it. For those who don't, please feel free to just answer the questions. :smilie8:
Does a Conn 10J have usable false tones? Is it possible to play the occasional low E-flat, D or C with a decent ...

Re: WTB: Olds/Bach marching baritone valveset
Thanks for your reply!
For reasons that I'm not going to take the time to explain, it needs to be either an Olds or a Bach. I'm not interested in any other models of marching baritone. This is for a very specific franken-horn project.

I initially listed just the two DE tuba parts that I have for sale, but I decided to list a bunch of other stuff, too, in case there's interest on this board.

I'm sorry! I didn't think about that. I've created a Google Drive folder with the pictures, and changed the link in the initial post to that folder.Mary Ann wrote: Wed Dec 31, 2025 9:45 am Trombone chat (where the pictures are) does not give access without membership. How about dropbox?

Re: FS: Custom 3-valve compensating franken-baritone

Yes, I'm well aware. I think the fifth partial is actually slightly less flat with the Conn bell than it was with the factory Besson bell.
I still have the original Besson bell. It's in good shape, and I'd let it go for cheap if someone wants it. It would probably make for a really "punchy ...

FS: Custom 3-valve compensating franken-baritone
For sale is a custom-modified 3-valve compensating baritone horn.
It's essentially a 1970 Besson with an 1889(!) Conn bell. The Conn bell is larger in diameter than the original Besson bell (9.25" vs 8.5") and has a slightly wider taper; this gives the instrument more of a "modern" baritone sound ...

Re: bassflügelhorn
That DEG alto cornet is a nice horn. Great intonation, and plays well both low and high. However, it's definitely an alto cornet and not a flugel.
A true flugel in low E-flat would need a much wider taper and larger bell throat.

WTB: Besson B-flat leadpipe from recording bell model
I'm looking for a leadpipe from a Besson B-flat tuba with a recording bell. The leadpipe on the recording bell model was bent/shaped differently than the leadpipe on the model with the fixed upright bell.
