Re: Brass Band contest time
Listened to this recording many times over the last couple of days.Stunning playing, especially the tuba section. We in this part of the world have no idea of how difficult this genre of music is to play.

Re: What did you play today?
Instead of playing the Blazhevich that we all know I pulled out his Textbook for Tuba that I bought from Encore Music way back in 1990. It is a spiral bound book of etudes that has been talked about on this forum recently. Really challenging stuff on my bb flat Yamaha Neo.

Re: Going to try a Mercer and Barker tomorrow.
When i bought my 981 brand new back in 1992 it came with a gold plated denis wick classic 3L mouthpiece.I never stopped using it.Tried lots of other mouthpieces but always came back to the denis wick 3L classic mouthpiece. It just worked.

Re: Mercer and Barker Mouthpieces.
Not really new. They have been around for a couple of years now and have their own website. Stated by two British tuba players they now make mouthpieces for every brass instrument from top to bottom.

Mercer and Barker Mouthpieces.
How popular are these British made mouthpieces in North America? Across the pond, they seem to be all the rage. I just got one for my 981 Besson Sovereign EE flat and I am enjoying it very much. 350 bucks Canadian make it the most expensive mouthpiece I have ever purchased.

While the Yamaha Silent Brass is expensive it is something I could not live without. It is brilliant.

I was born and raised in the heart of western Canada and have been playing ee flat tuba for over 30 years.I keenly follow the buy and sell pages in this part of the world with great interest.I really have not noticed more ee flat tubas for sale than other keys of tubas.

Re: Bill Bell / VW Concerto -- recording?
